Microwaved Broccoli

This is my favorite, easy go-to but fresh vegetable side dish. Just cut up the broccoli, microwave and enjoy with your favorite seasonings! I like to use it as a side dish for honey-garlic shrimp, ravioli, or salmon, but the possibilities are endless!

Serves: 4
Time: 5-7 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 heads of broccoli
  • Butter or spray butter
  • Season all or salt and pepper

Method

  1. Prep the Broccoli: Cut up broccoli into bite-size pieces, discarding the thick, long stems.
  2. Prep for Microwave: Place broccoli in a glass (microwave-safe) bowl and pour in water until water reaches about 1/2 inch deep. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
  3. Microwave: Microwave on high for about 5 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender when poked with a fork.
  4. Season and Serve: Drain the water and serve the broccoli! I like to spray my broccoli with fake spray “butter” because it’s easier than spreading butter onto the uneven surface of broccoli. Then I sprinkle season all on top. You can also use salt and pepper or any other favorite seasoning of your choice.
